      <image:title>ARCHITECTURE - Scale + Expertise</image:title>
<image:caption>Based in Mangonui, I develop concept designs for small commercial buildings, any type residential projects and assisting designs for Nik’s joinery projects. In order to give you the best possible advice along the way, I work closely with a selected group of local colleagues, planning and construction specialists, and highly skilled tradespeople.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ARCHITECTURE - Denmark + New Zealand</image:title>
<image:caption>With a background as Danish architect, I’ve brought along a tradition that is focused on genuine materials, the quality of light, simple and hyggelig design, and the approach that good architecture should be affordable for everyone. Through several years working as architectural designer at an award-winning architect in Tauranga, I’ve seen high end residential projects come to life and taken to heart the amazing opportunities the New Zealand climate and vegetation add to the built environment.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ARCHITECTURE - Ideas + 3D model</image:title>
<image:caption>Architecture holds no final answer to what is right. Each project is unique and evolves from your ideas and requirements, the site specific context and our mutual communication. My role is to carefully transform these concepts into spaces that support and hopefully enhance your lifestyle and/or everyday workflow. All projects are delivered in pdf files and a 3D model that you can explore in your own time on your smartphone, tablet or desktop. This gives you a really good feel for the proposed project so you can proceed with confidence.</image:caption>

      <image:title>JOINERY - Timber + Veneers</image:title>
<image:caption>The majority of our joinery and furniture products are made from hand-selected solid timber and veneers, ranging from NZ grown native and exotic timbers to a broad selection of imported species, all being sustainably grown and certified. Our workshop is fully set up with high quality machinery to make well-constructed interior and exterior joinery and furniture.</image:caption>

      <image:title>JOINERY - You + The Environment</image:title>
<image:caption>The only non-timber sheet product we chose to work in is called ZeroE, a laminated sheet product with the core made of 100% waste plant fibre and formaldehyde-free glues. It has superior strength and stiffness compared to standard melamine and MDF products and it provides an environmentally friendly solution for you, and for us here in the workshop.</image:caption>

      <image:title>JOINERY - Indoor + Outdoor</image:title>
<image:caption>One of our favourite timbers for outdoor furniture is Tōtara due to its extreme durability when non-treated. The Tōtara we use is farm-grown, MPI certified and sourced from a local sustainable forest management project that seek to support planting of new stands of Tōtara and increase the area of native forest on private land. Other timber favourites are NZ grown Red Cedar and imported Ash, Oak and Rosewood.</image:caption>

      <image:title>ABOUT - Talk + Listen</image:title>
<image:caption>Whether you are looking for a new piece of furniture or a house design, the first step on the way is to get in touch. All our projects start off with a meeting where we have a good talk about what you’re after and discuss what it takes to make it happen. We can either meet remotely via phone or email, or even better in person at our showroom in Mangonui. Looking forwards to hearing from you! Ria + Nik</image:caption>

      <image:title>ABOUT - Architecture + Joinery</image:title>
<image:caption>It was architecture and joinery that brought us together in 2003 when we met a building site in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2020, we established our joint business, The Danes Ltd, operating from our architecture office and purpose-built timber workshop in Mangonui, New Zealand. Our focus is to bring a Scandi vibe to our Northland community and deliver simple, functional and beautiful design solutions.</image:caption>
